A personalized education rather than a one-size fits all curriculums

Welcome

Your child is unique, continually progressing through the various Stages of Development and displaying specific needs and capabilities. Peel Montessori School aims to provide a personalized educational experience to help guide your child’s quest to learn, while supporting the development of emotional security and self-worth.

At Peel Montessori School, we take the time to ensure your child’s needs, your educational values, and the programmes offered compliment one another. The entire school body works together to provide a sense of unity and membership for your child to enjoy a safe and rewarding schooling experience.

We Accomplish Our Goals by Providing:

  • Small class sizes with mixed ages are ideal for receiving personal attention and extensive socialization opportunities.
  • A common programme which is established by our Administration in collaboration with the teachers.
  • Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT) and/or Montessori Certified (AMI, AMS, TMI) and experienced teachers utilize the highest standards and strategies of teaching and learning, and observe Montessori principles.
  • Teachers, parents, and students work collaboratively for the benefit of each child.
  • Well-rooted Montessori principles and curriculum, and state-of-the-art technology at appropriate levels within the programmes enable your child to develop at an individual pace and level, given their capabilities.

Elementary Program Grades 1 to 8

We offer two exemplary, elementary streams that strive to meet the needs of students from preschool to Grade 8. Peel Montessori School offers a CCMA accredited Montessori programme from preschool to Grade 6, and its division, Carrington College offers a blended programme for students entering the Elementary schooling years in Grades 1 to 8 who are without prior Montessori knowledge and instruction. Our blended programme is based on student-centered, hands-on educational experiences, which enables competence and understanding of concepts, and supports the development of the Whole Child. Students excel at their level and pace, given their abilities/proficiencies/competencies. Understanding concepts, creativity, and the development of vital skills such as focus, time management, strong work habits, and independent learning is the focus as the teachers guide each student to reach their potential. Peel Montessori observes and, in many instances, exceeds the requirements of the Ontario curriculum as a means of preparing students for academic, social, physical, and emotional success.

Although, we are very dedicated in offering your child an exceptional academic and social foundation, we believe our unique programs guide your child to develop personal qualities and citizenship skills that inspire a well-rounded individual with: respect, integrity, internal drive, concentration, organization, good study habits, within an exciting environment that enables your child to enjoy their schooling experience – laughter, friendships, and being cared for. These key elements of teaching and learning separate our complete programmes and inspire the development of confident, well-spoken, leaders of tomorrow.

I invite you to schedule a personal visit in order to learn how our programmes can help your child develop his or her potential. I look forward to meeting your family, and welcome the opportunity to discuss our exemplary programmes and family-like school community.

Philosophy

We Believe

Every child has unique capabilities, talents, learning style, and personality. At Peel Montessori School, we are dedicated in providing a higher standard of teaching and learning program that focuses on personalized instruction rather than a one-size fits all curriculums. This is accomplished through creating benchmarks that follow the pace and level of each student, given individual capabilities. In essence, our system enables students to move ahead in areas of strength while allowing time to develop competencies in other areas of development. Students will never be bored with their learning, or have to wait for others to move ahead. Our experience shows this to be an effective way to help students succeed academically, personally, and socially within our program and beyond in schools of their choice.

As a dedicated school, we believe that establishing citizenship, building self-worth, and guiding a student in their quest to learn from a comprehensive, intriguing curriculum inspires internal drive, creativity, community involvement, and an enjoyment of learning, which are qualities equally important as their intellectual development.

We Believe

As unique individuals, the development of creativity helps strengthen individuality and promotes out-of-the-box thinking and exciting personal developments, while completing programme expectations. As citizens of the world, we believe students must develop an understanding of their own cultural and national identity and grow their knowledge of the world in order to appreciate and be able to work with others of different skills, ages, and genders – essential for life in the 21st century.

To grow as a student, we encourage a positive attitude towards learning by inspiring students to ask challenging questions, to reflect critically in order to continually improve, to develop research skills, accept constructive criticism, and to become aware of how they learn best. Students are encouraged to become involved in community events, enjoy the process of learning, and develop qualities of a good leader and citizen of the world – as these are equally important skills as academic studies.

We Believe

That without concentration, learning cannot take place. Moreover, students require life skills such as a strong character, positive attitude, and good work habits and behaviours in the 21st century to propel their future success. To provide a foundation for the development of these vital key elements and as preparation for future learning, students engage in individual assignments as well as small and large group projects within a mixed age and gender class. From preschool to Grade 8, a continuity of education enables students to establish a foundation where each successive lesson builds upon previously learned knowledge and enhances the understanding of concepts. To meet our student’s needs and to maintain our high standards of teaching and learning, our dedicated, highly qualified, and personable teachers work in cohesive collaboration with the Administration and parents. Peel Montessori implements meticulous hiring procedures, and support thereafter within the school setting through training and development.

We Believe

That with guidance, students must build their own path to success through internal motivation, inspiration, and a passion to succeed in all areas of life.

History

From Humble Beginnings to Bright Futures

Our vision began when our own children were beginning school. We visited many schools and one impressive element stood out when we visited a Montessori school in which we later enrolled our children. We observed that children in the Montessori environment had smiles on their faces, acquired superior skills, interacted in a social setting with enjoyment and self-discipline, and communicated with students and adults of various age ranges with confidence. Most importantly, the children were well-mannered, outspoken, independent, and interested in taking on leadership roles by demonstrating their knowledge to others. We were convinced the Montessori pedagogy was by far a superior education system for children, as the child was at the centre of the program and the respect for the child was unparalleled. After much effort, training, and time an opportunity presented itself and Peel Montessori School opened its doors. Our goal was to bring the joy of learning, to inspire and guide a child’s quest to learn, discover, and be creative. Moreover, we desired to help children maximize their potential with encouragement, dedication, and positive role modeling.

1992-01-01

In a church setting, and one classroom, we opened our doors to ten Casa and eight Elementary children. As enrollment increased, the facility restrictions increased and the availability of space decreased requiring the school to seek a new location. During our search, we decided to move into our own school building with much improved facilities

A suitable location away from public view and traffic was located in a lovely residential community on a one-acre lot. Our location enabled us to offer private schooling to the Oakville, Mississauga, and surrounding communities. Our facilities opened in 2001

We moved into a 20,000 square foot school, which included two levels, a 3,000 square foot gymnasium, computer lab, music, French, and art classrooms, and a resource library for children Preschool to Grade 8.

Today, Peel Montessori School has a hard-earned reputation of offering higher learning strategies and standards.

At Peel Montessori School, children are active and respectful members of their school and community. We are a community that celebrates unique talents and strives to inspire a sense of enjoyment of learning, as children self-construct using experiential exploration of the environment. Peel Montessori guides your child to appreciate the beauty of nature, build positive values, and observe the benefits of working hard to gain a strong social and academic foundation. Although we implement a challenging curriculum, the family-like sense of community, and development of positive social interactions are equally important and, we believe, vital skills in the 21st century. The teachers are highly qualified and delighted to teach, while the students enjoy coming to school because we offer a programme that is conducive to active learning, a method in which most children learn best.

We have humble beginnings, and give a little smile when a child cries to go home because it is a reassurance that our school is unlike any other where children enjoy coming to school. Although it is truly a dream come true to provide an unparalleled school environment for children, it could not have been accomplished without the years of dedicated effort, hard work, , and amazing teachers and parents who realized our unique vision of a school paralleled their own educational values. Upon entering our doors, you and your child will sense the Peel Montessori difference, and we will work hard to continue to differentiate our school from any other private school by providing an exceptional academic and social foundation, a safe and stimulating social atmosphere, and a highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff. Our doors are open and we appreciate your feedback as we continually look to improve and grow for the benefit of the children who attend our school.

Since 1992, 95% of Peel Montessori School alumni who contacted us have indicated the benefits they gained from our higher learning strategies and standards and that they excelled beyond benchmark expectations after the Peel Montessori schooling. We are privileged to have made such a significant impact during their most formative learning years and beyond. Peel Montessori School is an independent day school for girls and boys from preschool to Grade 8. The School’s mission is to develop character, enthusiasm, an enjoyment of learning, and the wonder of humankind, nature, and life. Our programme strives to address the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and moral needs of each child using higher learning strategies and standards that stimulate the brain’s potential while aiding the child’s quest to learn and develop who they will become as adults.

Students represent many cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds and live in the Oakville, Mississauga, and surrounding communities, within a thirty-mile radius of the school. A common element amongst registered parents is their interest in providing their children with quality education, family-like atmosphere, and an exceptional learning environment.

Thank you Mrs. Cowdrey for 6 wonderful years of learning and growing and conquering my fears.

Happiness and laugher and the smiles on your face,
Are what makes Peel Montessori such a wonderful place.

Although it is time for me to move on,
My heart will never truly be gone.

No teacher ever has helped me like you,
Since year one you’ve cared for me all the way through.

Kindness and helping, each is a special trait,
You have them both, that’s what makes you so great.

You will never be forgotten and I will always know,
That you are still with me no matter where I go.

Over the years I have learned may things from you,
Like reading and writing and history too.

Until next time I would like you to know,
Thank you Mrs. Cowdrey for helping me grow.

For six years we’ve been together, now we’ll be apart.
